# Connecting your Microsoft account

To get started, your Microsoft account will need to be connected with your Axiom.ai account.

⚠️ Important

A work or school Microsoft account is required to authenticate Excel with Axiom.ai - this is due to a limitation in Microsoft's API restricting the availability of files for personal accounts.

Follow the steps below to connect your Microsoft to Axiom.ai:

  1. Open Axiom.ai
  2. Navigate to Credentials and API Key.
  3. In the Microsoft section, click Connect Microsoft.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect your Microsoft work/school account.

# Disconnecting your Microsoft account

To disconnect your Microsoft account, follow the steps below:

  1. Open Axiom.ai.
  2. Navigate to Credentials and API key.
  3. In the Microsoft section, click Disconnect Microsoft.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to disconnect your Microsoft account.

# Microsoft Excel steps

There are two available steps that you can take advantage of when using Axiom.ai:

# Microsoft token expiry

When you connect your Microsoft account to Axiom.ai, we do not store your login credentials, instead we use a token that Microsoft provides us to authenticate your account. On occasion, this token will expire. This is not something that Axiom.ai has control over, though we are always looking at ways that we can improve this experience.

Microsoft does not publicise the reasons for this token revocation. However, we suspect that this may be related to the speed of automations reading/writing content to Excel. If you notice this happening often, consider running your automations less frequently.
